Diario al Día | La Vega, República Dominicana — Carlos Peña, de 20 años, fue hallado joven colgado de un árbol en la zona boscosa de Los Mangos, Cutupú, el lunes tras varios días desaparecido.
El joven había sido reportado como desaparecido desde el sábado, cuando se dirigía al banco con 60,000 pesos en efectivo que nunca llegaron a su destino.
Un primo de la víctima confirmó ante las cámaras que el dinero no fue localizado en la escena. "Hay muchas cosas que en verdad están confusas", señaló el familiar visiblemente afectado.
Fue el reportero local José Reporta quien transmitió el hallazgo en directo, documentando cómo los propios vecinos lideraron la búsqueda ante la escasa respuesta inicial de las autoridades.
La comunidad rechaza de plano la hipótesis del suicidio. Un residente identificado como Ronan planteó ante las cámaras que el joven colgado pudo haber sido trasladado hasta el árbol tras su muerte.
"A él lo mataron abajo, se subió uno y tiró el lazo, entonces lo jalan para arriba", afirmó Ronan, quien exigió pericia forense y advirtió que la escena conservaba huellas clave.
Además, una mujer identificada como Francia Virgen denunció que la noche previa a la desaparición hubo una pelea entre Peña y allegados a su pareja sentimental, incluyendo a un primo y otro hombre del entorno.
La frustración de los vecinos también apuntó a la actitud de los familiares de la pareja del fallecido. Según Francia Virgen, la hermana de ella "estaba como una burla" mientras la comunidad buscaba al joven colgado.
Un residente conocido como Tilito aseveró que las autoridades no habrían ingresado al monte sin la presión directa del equipo de reporteros y la familia. Sin embargo, finalmente arribaron agentes preventivos y la Policía Municipal.
Poco después, una camioneta Honda CR-V blanca de la Dirección Central de Investigación (DICRIM) llegó al lugar para tomar control de una escena que ya había sido transitada por decenas de civiles.
Las autoridades acordonaron el área a la espera del médico legista, quien deberá determinar la causa clínica del deceso y confirmar o descartar la participación de terceros en la muerte del joven.
No obstante, la desconfianza de la comunidad de Cutupú va más allá de este caso. Los vecinos mencionaron dos muertes anteriores con circunstancias idénticas, identificadas como las de "el hijo de Bienvenido" y "Miguelito".
Ambos fueron hallados colgados luego de conflictos personales, sin que los casos se resolvieran. Eso alimenta el temor de que exista un patrón recurrente para encubrir homicidios violentos en zonas rurales de la provincia.
¿Qué implicará este caso para la credibilidad de las instituciones investigativas en La Vega? La respuesta del DICRIM y el informe del legista serán determinantes en los próximos días.
